The non-profit community foundation Bonn carries out projects under its own sponsorship and supports projects from other sponsors that correspond to the purpose of the foundation. Every citizen can become a donor with voting rights with a donation of at least 500 euros.

The Bürgerstiftung Bonn was founded in 2001 by the then independent Sparkasse Bonn .

Bonn Education Fund

The Bonn Education Fund supports 14 primary schools and 36 kindergartens / daycare centers from all city districts with the aim of supporting disadvantaged children. The schools and kindergartens / daycare centers each receive an annual budget of between 1,500 and 6,000 euros. The Bonn Education Fund provides a total of 151,000 euros. The Bürgerstiftung Bonn is supported by six other foundations, seven companies, an association and private donors. The youth welfare office of the city of Bonn provides advice. Renate Hendricks is the patron .

Open bookcases

After the Bürgerstiftung Bonn set up Germany's first open bookcase on Poppelsdorfer Allee in November 2003 , 17 additional locations have now been added. It covers the costs of the cabinet and the installation if interested citizens make a contribution of 2,000 euros, which is usually collected through donation campaigns.

Help for helpers

From the Help for Helpers Fund, the Bonner Bürgerstiftung supports projects that enable refugees to participate in social, social and cultural life and serve to network and integrate refugees in their neighborhood.

Finances

Since it was founded, the foundation has gained 20 sub-foundations that it manages in trust. The initial foundation assets of EUR 250,000 have since been increased to over EUR 10 million.
