Citizen Support
Citizen Support (Russian: Гражданское содействие ) is a non-governmental organization in Russia that works for refugees and displaced persons. The organization is based in Moscow.

The organization is supported by numerous individuals and organizations in Russia and abroad. It is a corresponding partner of the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR). The Memorial Legal Center in Moscow is the main supporter in Russia.
The organization deplores the restrictive current legislation in Russia on refugees and migrants.
history
The organization was founded in Moscow in 1990. It was the first non-governmental organization in the Soviet Union that specifically dedicated itself to the care of refugees. Svetlana Gannuschkina has been the director since then . The first refugees looked after were Armenians who fled the pogrom in Baku . She has also been supporting migrant workers since 2007.
On April 20, 2015, Citizen Support was entered in a register at the Ministry of Justice of Russia as "an organization that acts as a foreign agent" . In 2016, the founder and director Swetlana Gannuschkina received the Right Livelihood Award (Alternative Nobel Prize) for her work in the organization.
