In the real estate industry, the term office space market refers to the place where supply and demand for and from office space meet . The office space market is part of the real estate market .

A distinction can be made between demand and supply parameters. The parameters relate to a geographically delimited market (usually a city or a district) within a defined time unit (for example a quarter or a year).

Demand parameters:

  • Requests for space (volume of inquiries from potential office users)
  • Take-up of space (rented and sold space to office users)
  • Area absorption (change in the total area used in a store)

Offer parameters:

  • Areas under construction
  • Areas in planning

Many companies from the real estate industry such as consultants, brokers, institutional investors and banks collect data on the office market and publish statistics and market reports.
