Signature Aviation plc is a UK multinational based in London that provides aircraft handling services in approximately 400 locations. Shares are traded on the London Stock Exchange .

history

The company dates back to a machine belt textile company founded in Scotland in 1879 in Dundee , Scotland . The company later changed its name to Scandinavia Belting Limited and BB&A Limited . From 1939, materials for brakes in the automotive and aircraft sectors were mainly produced. In 1986 the APPH company, which manufactured landing gear and hydraulic components, was taken over.

After several company takeovers and mergers, the two business areas “Aviation” and “Materials Technology” were created. Other companies in the aircraft handling and maintenance sector were subsequently acquired. In 2005 and 2006, the material division was separated and specialized exclusively in aviation. This division ran under the name "Signature". After further acquisitions, it became known in 2019 that the company was planning to divest its engine repair division and to change the name of the entire company to "Signature Aviation".

According to its own information, Signature Aviation is the world's largest provider in this area. Its customers primarily include small aviation, private jet operators and regional airlines.
