BBC & DW

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

BBC & DW was a joint program of Deutscher Welle and BBC World Service that started on December 10, 2008 and was compiled from parts of the existing English-language radio programs of both partners . It was broadcast exclusively using the Digital Radio Mondiale (DRM) method via the medium-wave station Orfordness and short-wave stations in Great Britain and Portugal. The purpose of BBC & DW was to help this digital broadcasting method achieve a breakthrough in Europe.

The project is considered to have largely failed. Bayerischer Rundfunk was the last station to switch off its DRM shortwave station from B5 . On October 30, 2010, the project, which the media called "half-hearted cooperation", was finally discontinued.
