BBC Lausanne is a Swiss basketball team from Lausanne . The club, founded in 1929, is based in the Vallée de la Jeunesse sports center and plays in the Ligue Nationale de Basket B (LBN).

history

The club was founded in 1929 as l'epi sport Lausanne and was the city's first basketball club. In the 1950s the name was changed to Sanas Merry Boys Lausanne . The association has been called BBC Lausanne since 2010, and 2010 is also the founding date in the association's statutes.

In 2014 the club was in debt. According to a statement by the club president in 2016, the club was aiming for a budget of between 400,000 and 800,000 Swiss francs in order to end the 2017 season in the top 6 of the LNA. After completing the first qualifying round, the BBC Lausanne took 6th place.

Bankruptcy followed in early 2017 and the club looked for donors via social networks. The league let the BBC Lausanne continue to play. The semifinals of the Swiss Basketball Cup were reached in 2017 . To save the club, trainer Randoald Dessarzin agreed to ask for support everywhere. The club is still dependent on donations.

Under the name Sanas Merry Boys Lausanne , the club became Swiss basketball champions in 1952 and 1964 . The Swiss Cup could be won in 1946, 1955, 1956, 1957, 1959 and 1963.

Youth department

According to the club's website, 8 to 12 year olds can apply for the youth department. So far, the club has been able to sell one player to Detroit.
