The BC4ü Bay 99 was a bogie through car with side aisle, the sheet no. 131 for the K.Bay.Sts.B. was built for use in express train traffic. The wagons were not suitable for the transition to foreign railways.
Whereabouts
A total of four cars had to be handed in as reparations in 1919. Another five cars were taken out of service before 1940 and the whereabouts of a total of six cars at the end of the war in 1945 have not been clarified. The rest of the cars were taken out of service by 1950.
Constructive features
Underframe
As the base frame of the cart connected with the box was already in the wagon according sheet 75 undercarriage constructed entirely of wood, which partially - z. B. for the outer side members - was reinforced with screwed angle iron. Wooden profiles were also used for the cross members. This design promised a smoother run for high-quality cars. The wooden cross members to hold the turntable pans were also reinforced with angle iron. Due to the large wheelbase, trusses with adjustable tie rods were added to support the outer longitudinal members. The buffer beams were built entirely from rolled sections. As a towing device, the wagons had screw couplings with safety hooks according to VDEV, the drawbar was spring-loaded throughout. The wagons had rod buffers with an installation length of 612 mm, the buffer plates had a diameter of 370 mm. The rod buffers were replaced with sleeve buffers of the standard design in the 1930s.
drive
The cars had bogies of Bavarian design with a short wheelbase of 2,500 mm with a frame riveted from sheet metal and angles. The axles were stored in sliding axle bearings. The wheels had spoked wheel bodies and a wheel diameter of 988 mm of the Bavarian shape 39.
The hand brakes were each in the closed transition at one end of the car. All cars were equipped with Westinghouse type air brakes and Hardy type suction air brakes.
Car body
The car body framework consisted of a wooden frame work. It was clad with sheet metal on the outside and wood on the inside. The side walls were smooth and pulled down over the outer longitudinal beams. The cars had a barrel roof of the southern German design without a skylight structure.
The interior was divided into a total of eight compartments. The compartments of the second class each had six upholstered seats, the compartments of the third class were equipped with wooden slatted benches and each compartment offered eight seats. Eighteen places for officers and thirty for men were designated for military transport. Only the two compartments at the ends of the car were closed off with sliding doors facing the side aisle.
Furnishing
At both ends of the car there were toilets that were combined with washing facilities.
The wagons were heated by steam . The ventilation took place via roof vent or via the retractable windows.
The wagons of the first series were illuminated by gas lamps . The two storage containers hung on the frame in the longitudinal direction of the car. From the 1930s onwards, it was converted to electrical lighting.
Remarks
A total of four cars were converted in 1930 and were given the class identifier BC4ü Bay 99/30 . The side walls - uniform large windows - and the toilet area were converted.
