Under the generic designation BCL Bay 09 through cars for local rail traffic are summarized, which in the car register of the Royal Bavarian State Railways (K.Bay.Sts.B.) from 1913 under the sheet no. 521, 6055.2 and 6055.3 are listed. As a result of modifications, the categories CL Bay 09/21 , BCL Bay 13a , CL Bay 13a / 21 , BCL Bay 14 and CL Bay 14/21 were subsequently created in the DRG's sketchbook from 1930 .
development
With the growing network of local railways, there was a need for suitable wagons for local passenger transport. Between 1909 and 1929 wagons were procured that already had the characteristics of normal passenger wagons for mainline railways. In contrast to other local railway cars, these were suitable for military transport.
procurement
A total of 411 wagons of the categories BL , BCL , CL , DL and PPostL were procured between 1909 and 1929 . These all had a uniform floor plan, open end platforms with Dixi grids on the steps and staff transfers only secured by brackets. Instead of the composite windows commonly used up to now, large panes were installed. Of the wagons according to sheet 521, 18 wagons were procured from MAN in Nuremberg and from Rathgeber in Munich in two batches in 1909 and 1911 .
Whereabouts
The whereabouts of four cars could not be clarified after the end of the war in 1945. Of the vehicles delivered, the rest of them came to the Deutsche Bundesbahn, where they were until 196 were retired.
Constructive features
Underframe
The frame of the car was made entirely of profile iron and riveted. The outer side members were U-shaped with outward flanges. The cross members were also made of U-profiles and not cranked. As a towing device, the wagons had screw couplings according to VDEV . The drawbar was spring-loaded throughout and in the middle. The car had slotted basket buffers with an installation length of 650 millimeters as a shock device, the buffer plates had a diameter of 370 millimeters. For the wagons according to sheets 6055.2 and 6055.3, the platform was shortened so that there was a shorter length over the buffers.
drive
The wagons had riveted half-timbered axle brackets of the union type. The axles were stored in sliding axle bearings. The wheels had spoked wheel bodies of Bavarian shape 38. The suspension springs were 1,764 mm long with a cross-section of 96 * 13 mm. They were eleven layers strong. Because of the long wheelbase of 6,000 millimeters, club steering axles were used.
In addition to a hand spindle brake, which was located on one of the platforms at the end of the wagon, the wagons also had compressed air brakes from the Westinghouse system .
Car body
The frame of the car body consisted of a wooden stud frame . This was clad with sheet metal on the outside and wood on the inside. The joints between the sheets were covered by cover strips. The roof was rounded flat and went directly into the side walls. It had pulled out beyond the open end platforms. The wagons of the first delivery series had the appearance of the local railway wagons with a folding last step. The other delivery series were equipped with main line appearances.
Furnishing
The car type originally carried both the 2nd and 3rd class and had a total of 48 seats and a toilet. The 2nd class seats were upholstered, the 3rd class seats were designed as wooden slatted benches, as is typical of the class. A total of 20 standing places were designated for the two end platforms. The end platforms of the wagons according to sheet 6055.3 and 6055.3 have been shortened from 1,000 mm to 900 mm. This also reduced the length of the bridge from 1,224 mm to 1,2024 mm.
The lighting was done by kerosene lamps. The heating took place via steam. The wagons were ventilated by static roof ventilators and retractable windows.
Conversions
The cars of the first two delivery series from 1909 and 1911 were converted to CL Bay 09/21 except for two in 1921 . The upholstered seats of the 2nd class were replaced by those made from wooden slatted benches. The local railroad appearances were also replaced by those of the main railways.
drawings
