The BIOCOM AG is a European-wide, group-independent publishing and professional information companies, which in the areas of biotechnology and life sciences specializes.

Founded in 1986 in Braunschweig, the company has been based in Berlin since 1991. The company is managed by the board members Dr. Boris Mannhardt and Andreas Mietzsch , chairman of the supervisory board is Prof. Dr. Stefanie Heiden. Mietzsch is the company's founder and majority shareholder. The headquarters are in the Rütgers-Haus in Berlin's Mitte / Tiergarten district. There are further offices in Brussels, Vienna and Zurich.

The publishing program includes German and English language specialist journals with associated online portals as well as practice-oriented specialist books. The oldest product is the “BioTechnology Yearbook”, which has been providing an annual overview of the biotechnology industry in Germany, Austria and Switzerland since 1987. The magazines include

In the 2000s, the original specialist publisher went through a transformation process to become a broad-based communications company. Today, BIOCOM not only organizes its own conferences and meetings, but also offers various information-based services. One example of this was the information portal biotechnologie.de, which was aimed at the interested public and operated by BIOCOM from 2006 to mid-2015 on behalf of the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research . Since the summer of 2012, the office of the Bioeconomy Council , an independent advisory body to the German federal government, has also been part of BIOCOM AG. The medical technology portal medtech-zwo.de went online in 2014. Other activities include a. in the fields of studies and consulting as well as film and video. Under the label COMDIS, BIOCOM also actively participates in research consortia of the EU framework program Horizon 2020 and is responsible for "Communication and Dissemination". One example is the PharmaSea project, which received the “CommNet Impact Award 2014” for its excellent science communication. In spring 2018 BIOCOM organized the "Global Bioeconomy Summit" in Berlin, in which around 800 experts from more than 70 countries took part.

The BIOCOM word mark is protected both in Germany and throughout Europe.
