The BL 6 Inch Mk XII was a British naval gun . The caliber was 6 inches , which is 152 millimeters (mm) with a caliber length of 45, which corresponds to a gun barrel length of 6.86 m. It was used as main armament on cruisers and as secondary armament on dreadnoughts of the Royal Navy and the Royal Australian Navy .
use
The BL 6 Inch Mk XII replaced the earlier 50 caliber ship gun BL 6 Inch Mk XI on many ships of the Royal Navy , as this had proven to be too unwieldy , especially on light cruisers . At the start of the First World War , it was the most advanced British 152 mm gun. It was mainly mounted with individual lubrication. Due to the low elevation range of 40 °, it was not suitable for air defense .
