BMM cells

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

BMM cells ( bone marrow microenvironment ) are a mixture of cell types from the bone marrow of mice , mostly from laboratory mice , which are used, among other things, to examine primary cells .

properties

BMM cells are primary cells obtained from the thigh bone by rinsing with isotonic solution. In contrast to cell lines , BMM cells as a model are more similar to the cells in an organism, because among other things, BMM cells lack the immortalization of cell lines. BMM cells are freshly prepared and either cultivated in cell culture until shortly before confluence or examined without prior cell culture in order to reduce the effects of the cell culture medium on the cells in the latter case . They are used, among other things, to characterize macrophages and hematopoiesis .
