history
The refinery was commissioned by Amoco in October 1965 . In 1984 BP bought the refinery from Amoco. The Australian refineries in particular came under pressure due to large overcapacities of refineries in Asia. Not only Bulwer Island but also the Clyde refinery were shut down by Shell. The pier and parts of the tank farm continued to be operated as a terminal.
