István Dániel Szögi (born September 12, 1995 ) is a Hungarian athlete who competes in medium and long-distance running .

Athletic career

István Szögi gained his first international experience in 2013, when he finished twelfth in the 10,000 meter run in 32: 28.57 minutes at the European Junior Championships in Rieti . The following year he reached 13th place over 10,000 meters at the Junior World Championships in Eugene in 30: 15.93 minutes and finished twelfth in the 5000 meter run in 14: 11.35 minutes. In 2015 he was 16th at the U23 European Championships in Tallinn in 14: 59.72 min over 5000 meters and two years later he reached seventh place in the U23 European Championships in Bydgoszcz in 14: 18.06 min.

In 2017 and 2020 , Szögi became Hungarian champion in the 5000 meter run and in 2020 also over 1500 meters. In 2020 he won over 1500 and 3000 meters indoors.
