Babiito
Babiito (also Babito ) is the name of the related and centuries-old dynasties of the Ugandan kingdoms of Bunyoro and Toro .
background
Both dynasties originally go back to an Omukama of Bunyoro-Kitara, Isingoma Mpuga Rukidi I, who ruled Bunyoro in the 14th century. Today (2006) the Babiito dynasty of Buyoro represents the 27th Omukama from their ranks. The Babiito dynasty replaced the Bachwezi dynasty . The emergence of the Babiito dynasty was originally likely linked to an invasion of the Luo , as indicated by names in the royal families that have direct equivalents in the Luo language. Such names are e.g. B. Olimi, Oyo, Winyi, Achaki (with the Luo equivalents Olum, Oyo, Owiny and Acak).
Babiito is also the name of several clans in the Ugandan kingdom of Buganda : Babiito-Kibulala, Babiito-Kiziba, Babiito-Kkooki.
