Omukama

Omukama (plural Bakama) is the title for rulers of several pre-colonial states in the area of ​​the African Lake Victoria in the countries Uganda and Tanzania . (O) Mukama translates as "Supreme Milk Giver ".

In today's Tanzania, Omukama was used as a title in the various former small empires of the Buhaya in the Kagera region in the west of the lake to the Bukerebe people on the island of Ukerewe in the south.
