The Babungos are a tribe or ethnic group of around 14,000 people who are native to the English-speaking north-western province of Cameroon. They live there mainly in the region of a village that bears the same name Babungo . This village is located in the Cameroon grassland about 50 km west of the provincial capital Bamenda on the so-called "Ringroad". The native language of the tribe is also called Babungo . The spelling Bamungo can often be found for ethnicity, village and language .

In their own language, the Babungos call their village vengo [vəŋóo] and their language ghang vengo [gháŋ vəŋóo]; For this reason, ethnicity, village and language are also officially listed under the terms Vengo or Vengoo . Alternative names are: Vengi, Pengo, Ngo, Nguu, Ngwa, Nge.
