The superfluous ” were a group that practiced forms of action of social or civil disobedience under the same name . By their own admission, they turned against capitalism , oppression , racism , sexism , precarization and exclusion. The name was chosen as a battle term because the actors saw themselves as people who are made superfluous in a " profit-fanatic " system.

The actions of the superfluous were directed against the " social cutbacks " and the "political acceleration of increasing impoverishment and precariousness of large parts of the population", against which they tried to defend themselves with occupations, free meals, disturbances and spectacular symbolic actions. The first superfluous were active in Berlin. The superfluous made it onto the front pages of numerous German daily newspapers at the trial of Peter Hartz on January 17, 2007 in Braunschweig.

Occur

“The Superfluous” usually appeared in white theater masks and red hooded sweaters with the inscription The Superfluous in white. Their appearance was often not announced and came as a surprise to the addressees. Occasionally (including in Brandenburg during Monday demonstrations) they were also found unmasked and with white T-shirts with the same inscription in red.
