Mirror of Deception is a German doom metal - band .

history

Mirror of Deception was founded in 1990 by Jochen Fopp ( guitar ) and Michael Siffermann (guitar, later also vocals ) in Göppingen . From 1993 to 1997 three official demos and a mini CD were released. The debut album Mirrorsoil was released in 2001 on the English label The Miskatonic Foundation and was licensed in Germany by Iron Glory Records. After the departure of the previous singer Markus Baumhauer, the band recorded the mini-CD Conversion as a quartet in 2003 and the previous guitarist Michael Siffermann took over the vocals. After changing the line-up on bass and drums, the second album Foregone was released on the Belgian label Final Chapter in September 2004 . The band played concerts at home and abroad with Count Raven and Reverend Bizarre in Finland. In the spring of 2006 Mirror of Deception signed with the southern German label Cyclone Empire , on which the third album Shards was released in October 2006 . After a split single with the English band Tefra (2008) and a split album with the Finns Garden of Worm (2009), the fourth album A Smouldering Fire was released in 2010 . Afterwards the band could be seen at various festivals such as the Hammer of Doom, Doom over Vienna and Malta Doom Metal Festival, as well as on tour with label colleagues 40 Watt Sun and Semlah . At the beginning of 2014 there was another line-up change on bass and drums.

style

The band describes their style as "Unorthodox Doom Metal". In addition to significant influences from the style-defining Doom Metal bands of the 1970s and 1980s, this also includes influences from other rock and metal genres, as well as subtle folk influences, which sometimes manifest themselves in the melody. With the song Der Student von Ulm , the band released the first Doom Metal piece in the Swabian dialect in 2009 .
