Bakery of the upper village
The Backhaus of the upper village is a listed building in the Wetzlarer Straße 7 in the district Hermannstein in Wetzlar , which was built in the late 18th century.
The ground floor of the two-story building was made massive and used as a bakery , while the upper floor was made of half-timbering . From 1823 at the latest, the upper floor was used as a council room, from 1885 also as a school room. From 1930 to 1940 the official residence of the mayor was housed there.
The regular structure of the framework with its wide foot struts, the opposing foot straps and the angle wood emphasize the corner and collar posts. To the east of the building there was originally a stable, which was probably demolished in 1884 and replaced by the addition of a staircase.
