The Bad Buchenthal was a water-cure establishment in Oberbüren in Switzerland , which existed from 1842 to 1907.

Bad Buchenthal was founded in 1842 by Conrad Stierlin. It consisted of a three-storey spa house to accommodate 50 spa guests, after a renovation before 1859 100 people. The range of offerings included showers, river and wave baths in the Glatt , warm baths, Russian steam baths , spruce needle steam baths, rain baths, dust baths, but also applications of electricity in the form of hydroelectric baths . The water required for the institution was withdrawn from the Glatt with the help of a canal.

The cures were ordered for various ailments, poisoning or for "nervous diseases". The aim was "a steady and undisturbed mental life, in which one removes everything disturbing and annoying ".

In 1880, as a result of bankruptcy, the establishment was given to the weaving company Mathias Naef & Cie. forgotten . The company expanded Bad Buchenthal, and a tennis court, bowling alley and croquet area were also built. The facility now comprised around 500 hectares and became one of the most heavily frequented baths in Eastern Switzerland. In 1895 the facility was advertised as follows: « Quiet, sheltered location in shady, extensive parks, numerous varied walks in charming surroundings. Excellent, conscientious catering, moderate prices. »

At the turn of the century the number of guests decreased, a fire on the night of September 9-10, 1907 marked the end of the bathing establishment.

It was in the territory of the political municipality of Oberbüren , but was called "Wasserheilanstalt und Sanatorium Bad Buchenthal bei Niederuzwil ". Today there are residential buildings, the Postbus stop Buchental and a car garage in the area of ​​Bad Buchenthal .
