A first sample number appeared on April 9, 1876. Until 1981 the journal appeared weekly and until the 14th year 1889 every 8th day. HS Popper was the publisher of the bathing and travel journal. The editing was entrusted to Johann Ponschab, who was succeeded by A. Schneider in 1882.

The main focus of the "Bathing and Travel Journal" was on the "Curorte-Anzeiger" and the presentation of special health resorts and their healing springs . While the “Bade- und Reise-Journal” was still unillustrated until 1889, its successor, the “Illustrierte Kurorte-Zeitung”, from 1890 onwards was characterized by a rich array of photographs from various health resorts in Europe.
