Baden-Württemberg Theater Days

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Baden-Württemberg Theater Days (BWT) have been held in theaters in the state of Baden-Württemberg since 1968 .

Since 1977, the theaters , which are part of the Baden-Württemberg regional association of the German Stage Association, have met in different cities every two years . Since 1983 the meeting of the working group of children and youth theaters in Baden-Württemberg has taken place at the same time. Since the festival in Konstanz in 2007, the Baden-Württemberg Theater Days have had a motto according to which the plays shown are selected by the respective theaters in a thematically appropriate manner. Theatertage 2011 had 13,500 spectators, which corresponds to a total occupancy rate of approx. 87%.

The Theatertage took place in Pforzheim in June 2013 and in Ulm in July 2017.

In 2019, Theater Baden-Baden will host the 24th Baden-Württemberg Theater Days. In the directorship of Nicola May, the Theatertage is coming to Baden-Baden for the second time since 2005.

The 24th Baden-Württemberg Theater Days in Baden-Baden

All state, city and state theaters from Mannheim to Konstanz and from Karlsruhe to Aalen will be showing their productions in Baden-Baden between May 24 and June 2, 2019. In this way, the diversity and quality of the Baden-Württemberg theater landscape can be experienced in one place - for adults as well as for children and young people. More than 30 different performances can be seen in just 10 days in Baden-Baden. 38 introductions and follow-up discussions offer the opportunity to talk to the theater makers. Exchange between the artists is also very important at the 24th Baden-Württemberg Theater Days. In addition to the Young Theater working group, other professional groups from all over the state meet: including the Deutsche Theatertechnische Gesellschaft, the costume makers, the stage manager network, the make-up artists and the assistant directors. There is also the Theatertage Forum, a scholarship program for young theater professionals that will take place for the first time in 2019. A diverse supporting program consisting of exhibitions, nature and culture tours, lectures, cinema and live music in the festival center, in the LA8 culture house, complete the theater program.

The motto

The motto of the 2019 festival is # outside, a term that arouses positive and negative associations. Because # outside promises wanderlust, nature or a walk in the Lichtentaler Allee in Baden-Baden. But # outside there are also those who are marginalized and hostile in society. The festival motto thus reflects the current debates about an open and tolerant society - between home, openness and isolation. # outdoors can also be experienced very practically at the 24th Baden-Württemberg Theater Days: 16 venues from Iffezheim to Lichtental become a stage.
