The house with the postal address Badenstrasse 40 is a listed building on Badenstrasse in the center of Stralsund .

History and description

The two-storey, three-axle gabled house was built in the 15th century. Both floors were heavily reshaped during a renovation between 1965 and 1966. The four-storey gothic stepped gable along with the house substructure and the courtyard gable had to be replaced during these years because of the risk of collapse. The interior was also changed.

After the fall of the Wall in 1994/1995, all components could be restored and modernized again.

The house is a World Heritage Site and is located in the core area of ​​the historical old towns of Stralsund and Wismar, recognized as a cultural asset .

It is entered with the number 66 in the list of architectural monuments in Stralsund .
