The Baeyer Canyon is a deep-sea trench in the Lasarew Sea off the Princess Martha coast of the East Antarctic Queen Maud Land . It lies between 68 ° 52 'and 69 ° 42' south latitude and between 0 ° 30 'and 0 ° 35' east longitude .

It has been named since 1997 at the suggestion of the surveyor and glaciologist Heinrich Hinze from the Alfred Wegener Institute . It is named after Johann Jacob Baeyer (1794–1885), the founder of European grade measurement.
