The Minden depot was set up in 1884 north of Minden station and operated until 2007. Most recently it belonged to the Hanover Railway Directorate .
history
Both the train station Minden -using Cologne-Minden Railway Company and Royal Hanoverian State Railways were after the annexation of the Kingdom of Hanover the 1866 Prussian state railways slammed shut. The dissolution of the Minden fortress in 1873 opened up space to set up a depot within the line's curve north of the station . In addition to two large, 50-permanent roundhouse sheds , workshops and coal stores as well as coaling plants were set up.
During the Second World War , the Minden depot was only slightly damaged, so operations could quickly be resumed. In addition to the maintenance of the steam locomotives, high-quality trains were also used from here. In 1967 50 locomotives, mainly steam locomotives, were stationed here.
As a result of the electrification of the surrounding railway lines around 1968, the scope of the tasks for the factory originally designed for steam locomotive maintenance decreased. Due to the change in traction , regular operation was stopped on September 28, 1969 and the associated steam locomotives were assigned to the Lehrte depot . The systems were operated until 2007 with changing responsibilities. Most of the buildings were demolished except for the turntable , the latter initially still being used by the research institute of the Minden Central Railway Authority .
