Łódź Widzew (1903–1942 and 1945–1947: Widzew ; 1942–1945: Litzmannstadt Ost , today's name since 1947) is a train station in Widzew , an eastern part of the central Polish city of Łódź .
history
The station was opened in 1903 under the name Widzew as a station on the Łódź Fabryczna –Koluszki line, which went into operation in 1865 (which continued to Warsaw), when the branching line to Łódź Chojny was put into operation. In 1920 the construction of the line to Kutno began, the last section of which between Widzew and Zgierz was opened in 1931. In 1941 the line from Widzew to Łódź Olechów went into operation.
In 1954 the line between Łódź Fabryczna and Koluszki was electrified. In 1956 the route to Łódź Olechów followed, in 1958 the one to Łódź Chojny and in 1969 the one to Zgierz.
In 1990 travel to Łódź Olechów was discontinued. Since 2007, the line to Koluszki has been expanded for speeds of up to 160 km / h.

Today Łódź Widzew is a stopover on the Łódź Kaliska – Warsaw railway line , from which the line to Kutno and the one to Łódź Fabryczna branch off (this station has been undergoing major renovations since 2011). In 2010 the station was completely modernized and largely took over the tasks of this station during the renovation of Łódź Fabryczna. It is equipped with three platforms with six tracks and is served by all passenger trains passing through.
