The Ōtsuka Station ( Jap. 大塚駅 , Ōtsuka-eki ) is located in Toshima in Tokyo , Japan .
history
The station was opened on April 1, 1903 as a freight station. On October 12, 1909, the Yamanote Line stopped at the station for the first time. After more than 70 years, freight operations at the station ceased on October 1, 1974.
1911 opened the Ōji Denki Kidō the "stop at the station Ōtsuka" ( 大 塚 駅 前 停留 所 , Ōtsuka-eki-mae teiryūjo ) as part of their tram line to Asukayama (later part of line 27). In 1913, the city of Tokyo completed its Ōtsuka line (lines 16) to Tenzūin, followed in 1925 by the Waseda line (line 32), initially to Kishibojin-mae and later to Waseda. In 1942, the city of Tōkyō also took over the Ōji Denki Kidō . With the dissolution of the city of Tokyo, the tram network fell to the Tokyo Prefecture in 1943 . When most trams were shut down in seven steps in the late 1960s and early 1970s, only lines 27 and 32, which met in Ōtsuka, remained in operation. They were combined to form the Toden Arakawa Line and are still operated by the Tokyo Prefecture Transportation Office to this day .
Type of construction and tracks
The station is designed in the form of an elevated through station. The tracks running in an east-west direction approach a single central platform , which is served by the Yamanote line.
