Albringhausen station
The Albringhausen station was a station in Albringhausen , a district of the Esborn district of Wetter (Ruhr) in the Ennepe-Ruhr district , on the Witten – Schwelm railway line . It opened on May 15, 1934. He was available for passenger and freight traffic. Passenger trains stopped here twenty times a day in the pre-war period, and express trains ran through.
Thanks to its secluded location, the station became a quiet place to sleep for politicians and guests on special government trains that stood overnight in the spacious, cordoned-off station. Konrad Adenauer stayed here in the saloon car , as did the English Queen Elisabeth II , who traveled to Germany in a special train in May 1965.
Passenger traffic ceased on November 30, 1979. The line was closed on January 1, 1983. Today there is a restaurant in the station building.
