The Aurich Station is a former railway station in the Lower Saxony town of Aurich in East Friesland . In the meantime it has been rebuilt and given a new use. The station building is a listed building .
history
In 1883 the Aurich train station was inaugurated on the railway line to Emden . On June 14, 1883, the ceremonial opening of the Emden – Wittmund coastal railway took place in Norden , to which the railway line to Abelitz belonged as a branch railway .
In September 1967 the passenger traffic to Aurich was stopped.
Current condition
Since 1995 the station has been the teaching building of the neighboring Aurich high school Ulricianum . Music lessons take place in the rooms of the train station.
The former goods shed is now also used for music lessons in the Ulricianum, for concerts and events. In the mornings it mostly serves for rehearsals for wind classes; it also serves as an event room for around 200 people.
