Folkestone Central Station is one of three stations in Folkestone . It is more central than the Westbahnhof . Both the trains and the station itself are operated by Southeastern .

history

1843 reached South Eastern Main Line Folkestone in 1843, on 18 December 1843, the station was Folkestone Junction ( junction ) opened. Folkestone West Station opened in 1864, between these stations Cheriton Arch Station was opened on September 1, 1884 , renamed Radnor Park in September 1886, expanded in 1890, and finally on June 1, 1895 it got its current station Name, Folkestone Central .

The station was rebuilt again in 1961 in the course of electrification, it got two central platforms , connected with an underpass, ramps connected these with the ticket office and the station hall, which itself is above street level. In 1999 a platform was taken out of service, as was the underpass; the platform was not dismantled, although all structures on it were removed.
