The Reinhardsbrunn-Friedrichroda stop is a stop on the Fröttstädt – Georgenthal railway in Thuringia, which was built in 1870 . The currently empty reception building is a listed building . The platform is 226 meters long and 26 centimeters high.

history

The station building was planned in 1895 and opened in 1897. The complex, built in the English country house style with a free composition of different heights, large hipped roofs, bay windows and elements of the Thuringian half-timbered building is evidently a reference to Duke Alfred von Sachsen-Coburg and Gotha , who was then ruling and who was born in England , the second son of Queen Victoria . A prince's pavilion was set up for him and his family behind the train station , in which the duke and his entourage could hang out as befitted their status.

In the 1920s, a wooden platform roof was added to the station and the framework in the roof zone was partly boarded.

In 1929 the Thuringian Forest Railway from Gotha to Tabarz was completed. She was given a stop on the station forecourt so that she could easily change trains. In the 1930s, the Thuringian Forest Railway was so popular that up to 22 trips were made daily.

After the fall of the Wall, Deutsche Bahn AG gave up counter operations and did not arrange for it to be rented, but instead left the building empty and dilapidated. The city of Friedrichroda was not interested in buying because of the high price expectations of the railway. Therefore, initially only the station forecourt was acquired by the city. On June 3, 2015, the city of Friedrichroda bought the station from the Bahn-AG for € 2,500 in order to preserve it and use it appropriately. In September 2017 she had extensions and outbuildings that were not worth preserving demolished.
