Rosenthal train station

Rosenthal station in 1983

In 1911 the Jülich – Dalheim railway was opened. In the course of this, the town north of the town center got a train station for both freight and passenger traffic. In the first place, however, the freight traffic counted for the construction of the station because sand was mined and processed in the nearby forest. In 1983 the line was closed and the tracks from Ratheim to Dalheim dismantled. Numerous buildings belonging to Wegberger Sandwerke, such as the loading building and the storage building to the north of the listed reception building, are still preserved today and are used as residential buildings.
