The Shuzenji Station ( Japanese 修善 寺 駅 , Shuzenji-eki ) is a train station on the Japanese island of Honshū , operated by the Izuhakone Tetsudō railway company . It is located in Shizuoka Prefecture in the Izu City area .

description

Shuzenji is a terminal station at the southern end of the 19.8 km long, from the railway company Izuhakone tetsudō operated Sunzu line . It stands in the center of the Kashiwakubo district, near the bridge over the Kano . The station, which is oriented from east to west, has five tracks for passenger traffic, which are located on two central platforms and one side platform (all covered). The reception building includes several shops, restaurants and an information center. The western exit leads to a small park. There is a bus terminal on the southern station forecourt , which is the starting point for several bus routes operated by Shin Tokai Bus , Izuhakone Bus , Nishi Izu Tokai Bus and Minami Izu Tokai Bus .

Regional trains run approximately every 15 to 20 minutes, and every 8 to 12 minutes during rush hour. In addition, the Sunzu-line is Odoriko - express trains traveled, together with JR Central and JR East are operated. They enable connections to Tokyo without changing trains (twice a day Monday to Friday, three or four times on Saturdays and Sundays). Regional trains use tracks 1 and 2, express trains use tracks 3 and 4, while track 5 serves as a reserve.

In 2016, an average of 2366 passengers used the station every day.

history

The station opened on August 1, 1924, when the Sunzu Tetsudō ( 駿 豆 鉄 道 ) railway company extended the route via the previous end point Ōhito to this point. In May 1933, trains to Tokyo began to run on weekends . The Izuhakone Tetsudō, as the railway company called itself from 1957, stopped freight traffic on December 1, 1966. Almost nine decades after it opened, the station was completely rebuilt. This included a new station building, the roofing of the platforms and the expansion from four to five tracks. After some of the new systems could be used from October 5, 2013, they were fully commissioned on September 13, 2014.
