The TGV Haute-Picardie station is a long-distance train station in the French commune of Ablaincourt-Pressoir , in the Somme department . It is used by around 9,000 travelers every day and is located on the north high-speed line between Paris and Lille . The station is located about ten kilometers west of Péronne , between the cities of Saint-Quentin and Amiens . After its opening, the building was heavily criticized by the press for being too far from one of the larger cities. It has the nickname gare des betteraves ("sugar beet train station"), as it was built far away from larger settlements in the middle of the large sugar beet fields in northern France.

However, there are exits of the busy Autoroute A1 (in north-south direction) and the Autoroute A29 (in east-west direction) nearby .

The station has four tracks, two of which are platform tracks and two serve as a through track, as most TGV and Thalys trains pass through the station without stopping. In 2010, 400,000 travelers used the station. Since it went into operation until 2010, there were five million passengers who use the station.
