Ablaincourt-Pressoir ( Picard Ablaincourt-pressor ) is a North French community with 266 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Somme in the region of Hauts-de-France . The municipality belongs to the canton of Ham and is part of the Communauté de communes Terre de Picardie .

geography

The municipality that emerged from the merger of the two municipalities of Ablaincourt and Pressoir in 1966 is located around three kilometers north of Chaulnes in the Santerre . Autoroute A29 and Autoroute A1 intersect in the municipality . In the north-south direction the community is crossed by the high-speed rail line of the LGV Nord , the TGV Haute-Picardie station , the so-called "sugar beet station", is located directly outside the municipality, mainly on the territory of the neighboring municipality of Estrées-Deniécourt . In the south, the municipality extends to the municipality of Chaulnes. A wind farm (parc éolien) is located on the western edge of the municipality . The former hamlet of Bovent no longer exists.

history

Ablaincourt is first mentioned in 1044 under the name Habelinicurt. In 1215 Jean I de Nesle owned a permanent castle here. In 1648 the de Blattepière family ceded the estate to the Mathieu family.

During the First World War , Ablaincourt and Pressoir were completely destroyed in the Battle of the Somme .

The municipalities received the Croix de guerre 1914–1918 as an award .

  • Reinhard Sorge (1892–1916), German poet, died on July 20, 1916 at a first aid station in Ablaincourt and was buried in the Vermandovillers military cemetery.
