Toponymy and History

The name Dompierre goes back to the Cluniac priory Domus Petri, mentioned in 1109 , which had been an agricultural property since 1383.

Dompierre received a school in 1689. In the Franco-Prussian War of 1870/1871, the Prussian general August Karl von Goeben quartered in the rectory.

Becquincourt, whose original name (Bethornis curtis) goes back to the first landlord, was part of the county of Vermandois in the 12th century . It had a permanent castle that belonged to the d'Humières family and under Louis XIII. was destroyed. The place suffered from the Franco-Prussian War. Becquincourt Church was destroyed in 1916 and replaced by a new building after the war.

The municipalities received the Croix de guerre 1914–1918 as an award .
