Beaufort-en-Santerre ( Picard : Bieufort-in-Santerre) is a northern French municipality with 204 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Somme in the region of Hauts-de-France . The municipality is located in the Arrondissement of Péronne , belongs to the canton of Moreuil and is part of the Communauté de communes Terre de Picardie .

The municipality in the Santerre countryside is about 6.5 km south-southwest of Rosières-en-Santerre on the D161 departmental road.

history

The remains of a Roman villa have been found in Beaufort. The place is mentioned for the first time in 1206. The community received the Croix de guerre 1914-1918 as an award . In early June 1940, fighting took place in Beaufort during World War II . On July 7, 2001, the place suffered severe weather damage.

Mayor ( maire ) has been Claude Morel since 2001.
