Biaches ( Picard : Biache) is a French municipality with 384 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Somme in the region of Hauts-de-France in northern France. The municipality belongs to the canton of Péronne and is part of the Communauté de communes de la Haute Somme .

geography

Biaches is located west of Péronne on the D1 departmental road and is separated from Péronne by the Somme Valley . There is a military cemetery (Nécropole nationale) on the edge of the municipality.

history

The community was fiercely fought in the First World War ; Heavy fighting raged especially around the La Maisonette homestead during the Battle of the Somme in 1916. The community received the Croix de guerre 1914-1918 as an award .
