Roisel is a northern French municipality with 1613 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Somme in the region of Hauts-de-France . It is located on the Cologne river .

Worth seeing

  • The church Saint-Martin was after being completely destroyed in World War restored by the architect Louis Faille in 1926 and rebuilt. In the tympanum there is a statue of St. Martin by the sculptor Maurice Guiraud-Rivière .
  • The town hall, which was also completely destroyed, was rebuilt in 1926 according to plans by the architect Maurice Lucet, not far from the original location.
  • The war memorial (Monument aux morts) is located behind the church and contains the names of the fallen soldiers of the place.

Infrastructure

There is a kindergarten and a primary school in Roisel. The former rail station of Roisel was a station on the Paris-Nord - Cambrai line via Creil and Montdidier . The group Espace Jeunesse et Nature has now set up a youth guest house with 14 rooms there.
