Éclusier-Vaux (Picard: Éclusier-Veux) is a northern French municipality with 81 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Somme in the region of Hauts-de-France . The municipality belongs to the canton of Albert and is part of the Communauté de communes du Pays du Coquelicot .

geography

The larger part of the municipality is located on the right bank (Vaux) and the smaller part (Éclusier) on the left bank of the Somme , which meanders here and is extended by ponds (Marais de Vaux, Marais d'Éclusier), bordered by steep cliffs , around 6 km east of Bray-sur-Somme . The Mairie is standing alone halfway between the two parts of the community. There is a rural education home (Maison Familiale et Rurale) in the municipality. The Montagne de Vaux consists of grassland and in the Belvédère de Vaux near the Notre-Dame de Vaux chapel, offers a remarkable view of the Somme valley.

history

Vaux, which is said to have been given in the 5th century by King Clovis I Vedast , the bishop of Arras , is mentioned in 1259 under the name of Vals. In the Middle Ages it was under the control of the Saint-Vaast Abbey . Éclusier is younger.

The community received the Croix de guerre 1914-1918 as an award .
