Contalmaison ( Picard : Cantamoaison) is a northern French municipality with 118 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Somme in the region of Hauts-de-France . The municipality belongs to the canton of Albert and is part of the Communauté de communes du Pays du Coquelicot .

geography

Contalmaison, seven kilometers northeast of Albert , is on the D20 and D147 departmental roads and extends in the north to the D929 departmental road from Albert to Bapaume . The Ferme de la Trouée belongs to the municipality.

history

The municipality, one of the centers of the fighting on July 1, 1916 during the Battle of the Somme , in which the castle was also destroyed, was awarded the Croix de guerre 1914–1918.
