geography
The municipality is located on the D89 département road and on the Canal de la Somme near the confluence of the Canal du Nord . The place was the starting point for a slow train that was shut down in 1954. The SNCF's Voyennes-Hombleux station was also closed in 1973.
history
Finds prove a settlement as early as Gallo-Roman times. In the 10th century the place came under the protection of the Knights Templar . In 1415, Henry V of England crossed the Somme here after the Battle of Azincourt . During the First World War the community was badly destroyed.
economy
Voyennes still had an important horticulture at the beginning of the 20th century. Most of the goods were transported over the Canal de la Somme, which was completed in 1827.
Saint-Etienne church
The Romanesque building was completely destroyed in the First and Second World Wars . The modern church has a bas-relief of the old church.
