Herbécourt (Picard: Hèrcourt) is a northern French municipality with 224 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Somme in the region of Hauts-de-France . The municipality belongs to the canton of Péronne .

geography

The municipality is located on the D1 departmental road from Bray-sur-Somme to Péronne , around nine kilometers west of Péronne. To the east it is bounded by the A1 Autoroute and the LGV Nord high-speed railway line.

history

On July 2, 1916, fighting between French and German troops took place here during the Battle of the Somme . The community received the Croix de guerre 1914-1918 as an award .
