Auchonvillers ( Picard : Chonvilé) is a northern French municipality with 143 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Somme in the region of Hauts-de-France . The municipality belongs to the canton of Albert and is part of the Communauté de communes du Pays du Coquelicot .

geography

Auchonvillers lies on the heights west of the Ancre river . The departmental road D919 from Amiens to Arras runs through the northern municipality. The departmental roads D73, D163 and D174 run through the town itself. In the northeast corner of the municipality are a mine crater and two military cemeteries (a third in the village).

history

The place was mentioned in 1186 as part of the county of Amiens. It was completely destroyed in the First World War . The community received the Croix de guerre 1914-1918 as an award .
