Estrées-Deniécourt (Picard: etree-Dgnincourt) is a northern French municipality with 330 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Somme in the region of Hauts-de-France . The municipality belongs to the canton of Ham and is part of the Communauté de communes Terre de Picardie , whose administration is based here.
geography
The municipality , which emerged from the municipal parts Estrées (originated from the Latin strata - street) and Deniécourt , is located around 10 km southwest of Péronne in the Santerre . The municipality is bounded in the east by the A1 Autoroute , whose junction no.13 leads to Départementsstraße 1029 (formerly Route nationale 29 , part of the Chaussée Brunehaut system ) which crosses the municipality in a west-east direction . The LGV Nord high-speed rail line runs parallel to the car route ; the TGV Haute-Picardie train station , the so-called "sugar beet train station", is mainly located on the territory of the municipality.
history
During the First World War , the municipality was the scene of heavy fighting during the Battle of the Somme in the summer of 1916.
The community received the Croix de guerre 1914-1918 as an award .
