Longavesnes (Picard: Longavène) is a French municipality with 86 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Somme in the region of Hauts-de-France in northern France. The municipality belongs to the canton of Péronne .
geography
The municipality is located around 2.5 km northwest of Roisel on the D181 and D101 département roads. It lies partly on clay , partly on chalk floor .
Toponymy and History
The community name is derived from the term "longue avoine" (long oats).
Before the 12th century, the area was owned by the monks of Saint-Quentin .
The community received the Croix de guerre 1914-1918 as an award .
