Flers (Picard: Fler) is a French municipality with 195 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Somme in the region of Hauts-de-France in northern France. The municipality belongs to the canton of Péronne .

geography

The municipality is located around 8 km northwest of Combles and 8 km south of Bapaume on the D197 departmental road.

history

In Flers, tanks were used for the first time during the First World War during the Battle of the Somme in the Battle of Flers-Courcelette (1916). The community received the Croix de guerre 1914-1918 as an award .
