Lesbœufs (Picard: Lebu ) is a northern French municipality with 182 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Somme in the region of Hauts-de-France . The municipality belongs to the canton of Péronne .

geography

The municipality is located around 3 km north of Combles on the D74 from Combles to Gueudecourt . The A1 Autoroute and the high-speed railway line of LGV Nord run on the eastern edge of the municipality .

History and toponymy

The place goes back to the 7th century AD. The place name is traced back to the fact that the Scottish missionary Fursy, who died on the way to Péronne, was to be buried at the place where two bulls ("Les boeufs") stopped. It was completely destroyed in the First World War . The community received the Croix de guerre 1914-1918 as an award .
