The Maria Magdalenen Church, newly built in the 1930s

The name of the community, which was already settled in Gallo-Roman times, is interpreted as the “yard of the storks”. From the 12th century there was a manorial rule that was initially dependent on Nesle and later on Péronne . During the French Revolution , Cizancourt became an independent municipality. The First World War brought severe destruction; the church, which was also destroyed, was rebuilt at a different location. The community received the Croix de guerre 1914-1918 as an award .
