Fouquescourt ( Picard : Fouquécourt) is a northern French municipality with 158 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Somme in the region of Hauts-de-France . The municipality is located in the Arrondissement of Péronne , belongs to the canton of Moreuil and is part of the Communauté de communes Terre de Picardie .

geography

The municipality in the Santerre countryside is around 8.5 km north-north-west of Roye on the D161 departmental road. There is a British military cemetery to the north of the parish.

history

The place is first mentioned in 1146 as Furcelli curtis. Corbie Abbey and Lihons Priory shared ownership .

Fouquescourt suffered damage in the Battle of the Somme in 1916. The community received the Croix de guerre 1914-1918 as an award .

The community was planned for relocation in 2001 because the third major Paris airport was to be built here, which failed due to a change of government.
